所谓辅音连缀,是指两个或两个以上的辅音相邻出现的现象。发辅音连缀时,要避免在辅音之间加入其它元音或停顿;而在汉语中,声母后面都跟有韵母,英汉语音结构的这一明显差异,构成了我国学生学习英语的主要难点之一。特别是一些初学者,往往习惯在辅音后面加上元音,这就需要多操练加以巩固。
5.1 词首辅音连缀
词首辅音连缀分为五大类:
5.1.1 /s/ + /p,t,k,f,m,n,l,w,j/
发这类辅音连缀时,要注意以下事项:
1) 第一个辅音/s/要发得短而弱,既要避免把它拉长,发得如同汉语中的“斯”,同时要避免把/s/浊化成/z/;
2) 第二个辅音要发得强又重;
3) 爆破音/p,t,k/在/s/后面受到/s/的同化,变为不送气。

5.1.2 /p,b,k,g,f,s/ + /l/
发这类辅音连缀时,要注意以下事项:
1) 第一个音发得轻而短促;
2) 发爆破音的同时舌位已处于发/l/的状态,爆破音和/l/的发音同时进行,避免在/p,b/后加入/u/或/w/ ,在/k,g/后加入/u/音,如把blue发成/bElu:/或/bulu:/;
3) 第一个摩擦音要发得弱而短,和后面的/l/几乎同步发出,避免在其中加入/u/音,如把fly发成/fulai/等等。

发这类辅音连缀需要注意的事项:
1) 发第一个爆破音时,舌位就处于发/r/的状态,双唇也同时突出,爆破音和/r/音同时进行,要避免在/p,b,k,g/后加入元音/u/
2) 第一个摩擦音/f,W,F/发得轻而短促,几乎同时就做好发/r/音的准备,快速平顺地滑向/r/音,避免在其间加入任何元音。

发第一个辅音时就要把双唇收圆,避免在其间加入元音。

词尾辅音连缀主要分为五大类
5.2.1 辅音+/t,d/,原形动词加ed构成动词的过去式和过去分词

5.2.2 辅音+/s, z/
1) 清辅音/p, k, f, W/ + /s/

如apple, probable, little, middle, uncle, struggle等等。
5.2.5 爆破音/p,b,t,d,k,g/ + 鼻音/n/,并构成音节。
如weapon, ribbon, Britain, garden, blacken, wagon等等。
